Crafted in Amsterdam by Fa. de Groot & Gudde, this five-strand cultured Saltwater Akoya Japanese Pearl Necklace with jade accents is a beautiful example of Dutch design from the 1960s–70s. We see plenty of English, French, and Italian vintage jewelry here in the U.S., but Dutch pieces like this are far less common, and it's every bit as bold as you'd hope a Dutch modernist design would be.
There is something wonderfully unexpected about this design. It feels at once Scandinavian Modern, a touch Brutalist, and even a little ceremonial—as though it could have belonged to an ancient queen and a 1970s style icon at the same time.
Bold, elegant, and undeniably memorable, this is the kind of necklace that doesn't simply complete an outfit—it becomes the entire conversation.
The necklace is composed of 5 strands of luminous white cultivated pearls, beautifully gathered by marquise-shaped ornaments set with soft green jade cabochons. The combination of glowing pearls, marquise shaped jade, and warm 14K rose gold gives the piece an almost sculptural presence.
