Overall light wear commensurate with age and use. All diamonds are present and appear original, no visible chips. Apart from the later bezels, which have been professionally re-create the original after grading diamonds in GIA, no other signs of damage or repair to the mounts, just overall rubbing and general ware.
When judging diamonds in antique jewelry, one must be careful not to judge antique diamonds by modern standards. Antique diamonds have a soft romantic glow that many people find very appealing. Antique diamonds were cut to maximize carat weight and the brilliance.
Diamonds were cut by hand until the early 1900's. This was a laborious, time-consuming process. Unfortunately, many antique diamonds have been re-cut over the years and start disappearing. This has caused demand for these old cut diamonds to rise in recent years, along with the prices that people are willing to pay for them.
