Antique 1830s Georgian Rose-Cut Diamond Heart Gold Pendant Locket Necklace , Boxed

$6,960

Early 19th Century Antique Georgian Rose-Cut Diamond Heart Pendant on Gold Chain Boxed

Some hearts were made to be given. Others were made to be treasured for centuries.

This beautiful Georgian diamond heart is a wonderful example of the sentimental jewelry so beloved during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, when hearts were powerful symbols of love, devotion, and affection.

The softly rounded heart designed with classical, entirely covered in old rose-cut diamonds, each individually cut and set by hand, within a closed-back  cut down setting. Unlike modern brilliant-cut diamonds, these early stones have their own distinctive character, with irregular facets that catch the light in a gentle, romantic sparkle.

The diamonds are arranged closely together, creating a wonderfully textured, almost shimmering surface. A diamond-set bail adds another lovely detail, connecting the heart to its gold chain. The diamonds appear bright and well matched. The diamonds are closed back. Individual diamond size and setting prevents accurate assessment of color/clarity grades.

The reverse is beautifully finished in polished gold, a reminder of the craftsmanship that went into these pieces, even on the side that was rarely seen.

Accompanied by an antique gold chain with a traditional barrel-and-hook clasp, the heart is ready to be worn and enjoyed, whether alone or layered with other antique treasures.

More than two centuries after the Georgian era, the sentiment remains wonderfully familiar. A heart given in love never really goes out of fashion.
