Vintage 1960s GRS 3.16ct No-Heat Ceylon Pink Sapphire 2.42ctw Diamond Platinum Ballerina Cocktail Ring

There is something wonderfully excessive about 1960s cocktail jewelry — and this ring manages to be both feminine and unapologetically bold.
The design feels like a marriage of two great mid-century styles: the graceful movement of a ballerina ring and the oversized presence of a glamorous dinner cluster ring.
At its center is a beautiful 3.16 carat natural Pink Sapphire from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), accompanied by GRS Gem Research Swiss lab Report #GRS2026-050632. The sapphire measures 8.67 x 7.70 x 5.29mm, and importantly, the laboratory found no indication of thermal treatment.
Its color is distinctly pink — vivid, saturated and wonderfully alive. Depending on the light, however, the stone can occasionally pick up a subtle purplish undertone, giving it a slightly different personality as it moves from daylight to indoor lighting. Stunning!
And then come the diamonds.
A dramatic inner surround of 24 tapered baguette diamonds, approximately 1.70ctw, radiates around the sapphire in the manner of a ballerina skirt. Rather than stopping there, the designer added an outer border of 24 round brilliant-cut diamonds, approximately 0.72ctw, transforming the softer ballerina idea into a much bolder mid-century cocktail ring.
The diamonds are estimated G-H color and VS clarity, with approximately 2.42 total carats of diamonds and approximately 5.58 carats total gemstone weight.
The substantial platinum construction is just as impressive from the side and back. Six individual wires form the unusually wide split shank, sweeping upward toward the diamond-set top and giving the large ring both visual balance and architectural structure.
At approximately 19.45 x 20.45mm, this is unquestionably a statement ring. Yet the tapered baguettes create movement toward the center rather than simply adding bulk, keeping the eye focused on that remarkable pink sapphire.
It is very much a ring of its era: feminine without being delicate, glamorous without being shy.

Condition: The ring is in great vintage condition. Overall light wear commensurate with age and use. All diamonds are present and appear original, the sapphire is in great condition with no sign of wear. Very little wear to the setting in the form of minor abrasions and knicks to the metals, no apparent sign of repair to the mount. The ring has being cleaned.
