1900s Edwardian English GIA Royal Blue Unheated Sapphires & Old Cut Diamonds Crescent Moon 14K Yellow Gold Brooch
A super rare and highly collectible, this majestic Crescent Moon Brooch was created in England during the early Edwardian period, back in the 1900s. The fabulous and stunning piece has been crafted with impeccable details. A celestial antique crescent brooch is set with 13 alternating rich ROYAL BLUE Sapphires & 12 bright Old European cut Diamonds, in claw and grain settings, the ends of the crescent are embossed, the inner curve is plain, with a crown claw set outer curve, with an pin and safety catch fitting, mounted in solid 14K yellow gold (tested).
SAPPHIRES: This jewel features a GIA-certified, approx. 1.70ct in total, natural sapphires from the famed Pailin mines in Cambodia. These mines are no longer operational, making this a truly rare find ( once more proven the authenticity of the bygone era).
The Sapphires are beyond words!! A NATURAL, NO HEAT in beautiful Royal Blue, transparent, bright, richly saturated, luscious color, often compared to the highly sought-after Kashmir sapphires. Its exceptional saturation and the fact that it's unheated (placing it among the top 1% of all sapphires) further elevate its value.
Pailin sapphires were once highly prized for their purity and intensity of color, rivaling even Burmese and Ceylonese stones. Its Cambodian origin from the famed Pailin mines adds another layer of rarity and historical significance.
It is a truly an investment piece, accompanied by a recent GIA #5231525082 certificate stating: The Natural Sapphire, No indications of Heating. In the world of Sapphires, Kashmir sapphire (the rarest and most coveted) is the color to desire. These natural, unheated Sapphires in this delightful brooch originated from Pailin, Cambodia is close runner up!
DIAMONDS: These Old European cut Diamonds are magical as well. The facets are large, chunky and beautiful and the brilliance is tantalizing. Estimated total diamond weight 1.30cts, G-H color, predominantly VS clarity, nicely matched and extremely bright.
Weight: 4.51 Grams.
Measurements: Diameter of 2.8cms ( 1.11 inches).

Crescent brooches of this size and quality are rare, and this one would make a stunning addition to any fine antique jewelry collection. Edwardian-era jewelry pieces tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and this crescent moon brooch is a perfect example. A true show-stopper, this brooch would be fabulous added to a jacket lapel or converted into a statement pendant (a service we can provide for an additional $85).
Condition: The overall condition of this brooch is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. Late 1800s TUBE HINGE back fastener with later replacement, sometime after 1910, SAFETY CATCH and pin brooch fittings. Diamonds appear bright and well matched.
Sapphires appear a well matched with one smaller gem with noticeable abrasions. The gemstones are secured in their settings.

The 1800s-1900s ladies adored their crescents, which often are seen to represent “new beginnings”. As the moon changes, and when it turns into a full moon, it reflects the ebb and flow of life - thus a crescent in the 19th Century was associated with weddings and births (and later, honeymoons). Sapphires are the stones of September.
Celestial Jewelry like moons, stars, constellations, and zodiacs invokes joy and magic, and are associated with love, luck, and protection. As with the Lunar New Year, the Lunar New Year has incorporated celestial elements like crescent moons, shooting stars, and constellations into its designs.
