Crescent brooches are highly sought after, and this one would make a stunning addition to any fine antique jewelry collection. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day. A true show-stopper, this brooch would be fabulous added to a jacket lapel, belt, jacket closer... or would be a sweet pendant or charm conversion (a service we can provide for an additional $85).
Condition: The overall condition of this brooch is excellent. Beside the little normal wear and original patina, there is no damage to the gold. The fastener with SAFETY CATCH and pin brooch fittings seems to be original. Diamonds appear bright and well matched and are secured in their settings.

The 1800s-1900s ladies adored their crescents, which often are seen to represent “new beginnings”. As the moon changes, and when it turns into a full moon, it reflects the ebb and flow of life - thus a crescent in the 19th Century was associated with weddings and births (and later, honeymoons). Sapphires are the stones of September.
Celestial Jewelry like moons, stars, constellations, and zodiacs invokes joy and magic, and are associated with love, luck, and protection. As with the Lunar New Year, the Lunar New Year has incorporated celestial elements like crescent moons, shooting stars, and constellations into its designs.
